Internship Brief
As our Summer 2026 Intern, you will work alongside experienced mentors to support families and individuals in maintaining safe, stable housing. This is an educational internship designed to build your skills in the 5 educational pillars: professionalism, documentation, client engagement (supervised), ethical practice, and community resource navigation.
You will not perform billable services or work independently. Instead, you’ll shadow, practice under close supervision, and complete meaningful projects that support our agency while advancing your career readiness. A stipend of $750 is provided for related internship expenses ie. commuting cost and supplies.
Responsibilities
All responsibilities are supervised and non‑billable, consistent with educational best practices.
- Shadow staff during client visits, team meetings, and community partner calls
- Practice documentation by drafting mock progress notes and case summaries using agency templates (reviewed and co‑signed by your mentor).
- Build a community resource database – research and organize housing, food, legal, and benefits resources in the local community and state.
- Assist with quality improvement – review redacted client files for documentation patterns and suggest process improvements; create client‑friendly handouts under supervision.
- Participate in weekly mentorship meetings – receive feedback, set learning goals, reflect on progress, and complete training (HIPAA, confidentiality, boundaries).
- Support agency outreach – support social media channels and assist with community events
Eligibility
- Current college junior or senior – enrolled in an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship.
- Major in psychology, social science, human services, or a related field (e.g., sociology, counseling, public health, social work).
- Interest in human services demonstrated through coursework, volunteering, or personal experience.
- Strong communication & attention to detail – ability to write clearly, summarize information, and complete accurate documentation.
- Reliability and curiosity – asks questions, seeks feedback, meets deadlines, and communicates schedule changes in advance.
- Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and other technology platforms.
